today: DANGEROUS SECRETS
plus,
I HAVE A SECRET
Hello again,
How does one tell a secret? Sometimes we get asked over and over. "Oh, come on, at least give me a hint." "So what did she tell you? I know you know." "You can tell me. You can trust me."
Then we're trying to keep the secret in.
There's another kind of secret - secrets that people, and even entire societies, keep from themselves. I was thinking about this kind of secret last thing at night. In the morning I woke up with a poem:
I HAVE A SECRET
I have a secret
You don't know this secret
But it's not my secret
It's yours ...
Here's the full poem.
Cassandra had that kind of secret. Cassandra of Troy. She knew the Trojan horse was a trick. She tried to warn her fellow citizens.
I don't think my secrets are quite as dire as Cassandra's. But like her, I've found it hard to get listening for some things.
In terms of telling the secret, I think I'll learn a lesson from Cassandra - not to do it her way: "Listen, Listen. It's urgent!"
What else might I do? If at first you don't succeed, I've been told, try, try, try again. Okay. But I've also learned that the definition of neurotic is someone who keeps doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome. I'd rather skip that route.
So if I keep trying, it'll have to be in some other way. Right now, I'm trying by not telling. We'll see.
If you'd like to wonder a bit about the secret, here's a short video.
I have a question for you. What do you think Cassandra might have done? What have you seen that works in spreading a message? - and I'm not talking of emails of cute kittens!
Then, a request. I'd love to get media attention for this. If you know any reporter or other media person who might be interested, would you please forward this email?
And with that, as always, all the best,
Elsa

Welcome
to Elsa's Creativity Space
Deep Dangerous Secrets in Current Western Values, Western Attitude.
This mixes with the Cassandra Complex, Cassandra Syndrome:
she could not get heard.
A dangerous secret - now what could that be?
Probably it's not about Santa Claus.
Hmmm, dangerous secrets about Western values, attitude?
Could it be about Santa Claus?
But, to leave Santa aside for the moment, what's a dangerous secret?
Dangerous secrets - when not knowing the dangerous secret knowledge
can be a matter of life and death.

And as for Cassandra and her famous Cassandra complex, Cassandra syndrome,
there's blame the victim- or in her case, name the victim.
She was cursed by one of the gods, Apollo, whom she refused sexually.
So maybe it would be better to call this the Apollo complex or Apollo syndrome -
referring to nasty powerfuls who do their best to hurt at deeply as possible
those who don't give them what they want.
But renaming the Cassandra complex and Cassandra syndrome,
calling it the Apollo complex or Apollo syndrome
might confuse people.
They might think of the Apollo space ship, rather than the long ago Greek god
who cursed a woman for turning him down.
