USING CSS, TEMPLATE FOR THE FIRST TIME
Another telling about what's been happening - a snapshot. Not much progress in terms of new stuff on the web - but a huge step in terms of knowing about Dreamweaver, which means that now I am for the very first time ever writing using a template. Most of this page can be changed only using the template - which means wonderfully that if I decide to change something, I can change it on every page instead of having to go back and change it, page by page, or having to live with the old pages unchanged.
I am amazed now, of course, at how much time I put into changing pages one by one, how many hundreds of ours I put into that over the months, because I could not figure out templates on my own, and had not gotten/hired help. Four hours of tutoring - and it feels that I am living in a different world.
So, yes, I have not done many new things for this project - but I have changed one of the fundamental limitations, one of MY fundamental knowledge limitations.
It's like, in many ways, moving from a typewriter to a computer - changes are so much easier.
Anyway, that's what's been happening. Two lessons a week apart - and then yesterday applying those lessons, and making this whole blog now work from a template.
The rest of the site will now of course work from templates.
And more ... I have spent time finding a mass email program which has an automatic unsubscribe. Getting a letter out is next on my list. Maybe even something that can be done today. Over 5,000 email addresses on the list.
And then on to the next thing.
Though of course the next thing will now be slowed through college starting, teaching starting.
Still, not bad for a summer is my own verdict.
